like nails on a chalkboard

PhotobucketAre there things that just really put your senses in overload...the touch, sound, sight, or smell of something that just bothers you in a way you can't describe?!  Or maybe I'm the only crazy one...wouldn't be the first time.  Anyhow, i thought I'd share those very things that just really affect me for some reason...like in a way I can't be around them.  They don't make me mad (unless the hubs does them because he knows they bother me) and I really don't know how to describe how they make me feel...its just not "good."  I guess they're just my quirks...and without further adieu here they are:

*The sound of someone else eating or drinking (specifically, the gulping noise when you swallow) - Whenever we eat dinner I always like to have background noise so I can't here anyone around me eating.  Trust me, I know I make noise too but for some reason just the chewing and gulping noise really bother me.

*The feel of newspaper - This has always been something that bothered me - the touch just feels gross to me for some reason so I really try to avoid touching it - I know..weird!

*Kitty/Dog hair on my comforter - Ugh, nothing worse than getting in my nice warm bed after taking a shower and pulling the covers up only to have some kitty cat or puppy dog hair fly in my face.  It really disturbs me - I seriously keep a lint roller next to my bed and lint roll the comforter before getting in to try and keep this from happening.  For some reason, no matter how hard we try, we cannot keep our furbabies off our bed - its their favorite spot in the house!

Ok...so there it is...I've bared my soul just a little and shared some things about me that most people don't know.  So now its your turn - what quirky things bother you - please share so I don't feel like I'm the only crazy one:)

Oh my gosh the food thing drives me nuts too. This lady who used to sit across from me in my cubicle would eat her breakfast in the mornings and I could hear her swallow her drink. It drove me crazy! I dont know why I find it so disgusting I just do. Glad to see im not the only whack-a-doo :)

At my old job there was a lady that would bring a glass bowl to work...and all I could here was the clinking of her spoon again that bowl...drove me crazy! I really hate the scraping of forks or spoons on plates or bowls. I am with you on the dog hair...I keep a lint roller by our couch...it DRIVES ME CRAZY!

I can't stand the sound of chewing while I am on the phone with someone. Another quirky thing that drives me nuts is when you close a drawer...but not all the way. Makes me crazy!

Oh my gosh! I'm not crazy! Eating/drinking noises drive me crazy too! Especially when people eat cereal!

I also hate "movie noise" meaning opening bags of candy or that awful hands in the popcorn trying to grab the perfect amount. Drives me nuts!

I CAN'T stand the way cotton balls feel. It makes me cringe! When I open a new medicine bottle I have to get someone else to pull out the cotton. :) Yes- I'm a weirdo!

The fur on the bed is a big issue for me as well. I have been thinking of buying a seperate comforter that we use just to sleep under to be sure my bed is hair free when I sleep!

It's the weirdest thing but I loathe watching people kiss on movies. The kissy mushy stuff makes me cringe. I'm a little different.

Cotton in the mouth, like at the dentist... eww I just got the chills. The sound of my husband biting his nails, and it seems like he only does it around me. UGH! Love this post!

I can definitely relate to a few of your 'quirks'!! I love reading this kind of stuff :)

I cringe when I hear utensils clanging against someone's teeth while they're eating!!!!

Love this post!!! I never knew these things about you - especially the lint roller - that cracks me up!!!

I KNOW I have a list a mile long of things like this but of course I can't think of any right now... my brain is fried!!!

You are SO not alone in this! Especially the eating noises thing. I bring cookies and treats for my students sometimes, but only with the stipulation that they do NOT eat around me!

I have so many -isms, we could be here all night!!

Chewing and gulping/ slurping really get me. So much so that at restaurants I almost go crazy simply being subjected to a room full of people eating and drinking. It's AWFUL!

I can't stand the feel of sandpaper and nail files... especially the sound that nail files make.

And I absolutely LOVE dogs, but cannot stand the sound of their barking!!
I could go on for days!!
Don't worry! I won't =)

I think we are two peas in a pod!
I canNOT STAND the sound of people chewing - and especially swallowing.
{SHUDDER!} I seriously can't think about it without cringing.
I can't stand the feel of newspaper AT ALL (or chalk, for that matter) ...
and I HATE pet hair. There is no way on earth I could ever have a pet IN my house for that reason.
You're not alone, my friend! :-)
