Saturday Morning Scene

Saturday Morning SceneI'm joining up with the fabulous Katie from "Loves of Life" this Saturday morning to share our Saturday Morning Scene!
After being out of town all week for work...it is SO nice to be back home with the hubs and little one.  Everyone somehow managed to get sick while I was away but Addie seems to be feeling much better this morning, despite the 2:30am wake-up call:(  Lots of coffee and love from the little one are making this Saturday much better.  After such a crazy week....we are planning to lay low and get all of those wonderful house chores done this weekend...hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Addie says "good morning" too!

Saturday Morning Scene

Saturday Morning SceneI'm linking up with Katie over at "Loves of Life" to share our simply marvelous Satuday Morning Scene.  We are headed out to one of the home improvement stores to pick up some wood for our little pantry project we have going on...trying to beat the crowd so we are headed out early...ya, know?!  I'm absolutely loving that its 4th of July weekend...I really enjoy all of the cook-outs and fireworks and celebrations.

Also...since I mentioned home improvements above...I should also mention that we just had our windows replaced so our view is a bit clearer this Saturday morning (because who cleans windows that are about to be replaced??  I've been saying that for 4 years...and the new ones are finally in:)).  I love natural light...and the big window below is my favorite in the house...I can be a nosy neighbor from the comfort of my couch...kidding!!

the pics aren't that impressive but it looks 100% better in real life
Hope you're having a wonderful Saturday morning and doing something special for the 4th of July weekend!!

PhotobucketWe are headed out to the Old Beach Farmer's Market this Saturday morning to hopefully find some great eats and take in the sites.  The weather is beautiful - its finally cooled down a bit to temps in the 70s and 80s and we actually visited this market last Saturday, rather unexpectedly, and just LOVED it.  We have another farmer's market in VB as well that I had always been somewhat faithful too but this one was way better, albeit a bit smaller.  Last week we purchased some heirloom tomato plants (to add to the volunteers and few plants that survived my neglect), salsa and guacamole (sounds weird but its homemade and to.die.for), lettuce, onions, spinach, eggs, and beef.  Everything we bought was amazing so I'm VERY excited to go back this week and hopefully try a few other things.

In other news - Addie got me up at about 2am last night - which is VERY unusual for her.   She was literally sitting up in her crib crying hysterically - it broke my heart - refusing her paci and everything.  I held her and we rocked and her breath had that kind of "iron" smell to it like when your bleeding but she wouldn't let me anywhere near her mouth - straight up, push mom's hand away style.  So, while I couldn't investigate I concluded the hubs was probably right, remember here when I accused him of wishful thinking, and her bottom chompers were breaking through.  I gave her some infant tylenol and put her back down and we didn't hear from her until this morning and guess what this momma found in that little girl's mouth....yep, a bottom chomper has broken the gum!!  The girls got a tooth - looks like she won't be eating purees until she goes to kindergarden after all!!

After that...it will be pool time:)

Happy Saturday Morning!!

Saturday Morning Scene

Good Saturday morning to you!!!

I'm SO thrilled it is Memorial Day weekend and things are starting to get busy in this sleepy little beach town.  Everything seems a bit more alive and I just love the start of summer!!!  My aunt and uncle from Michigan, whom I adore, are in town for the weekend and I'm so excited to spend time with them - I have not seen them since my wedding 3 years ago and this is obviously the first time they've met Addie so I know its going to be a fun weekend!

photo courtesy of Full Quiver Farm
We are headed down to the farm this morning to purchase some chicken (not live ones - these have already been prepared to cook), eggs, pork, and fingers crossed - some beef if they have any.  We try to do the natural and orgainc thing as much as possible in our house - within reason - and I do try to buy all natural meats but I'm very skeptical of what I'm really getting so I found a farm that sells the meat from the animals they raise on their farm.  The family that owns the farm encourages you to visit and see the animals and this will be our first time going to see everything and buy from them so I'm very excited!!!  I also think it will be fun to see Addie's reaction to all of the live animals they have that you can play with!

After we get back, I'm hoping to enjoy some time pool side with the fam!!!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday!!

Happy Memorial Day weekend!!!

Saturday Morning Scene

Good Saturday morning!!!  We are spending our Saturday morning hanging out on the floor with our girl who is on.the.move.  We don't have any text book crawling but we do have army crawling and all sorts of other forward movement!!  I am really loving this stage as Addie is really starting to explore things on her own and its so FUN to watch her explore the little world around her.

The hubs' sis is here with us this weekend and we are all thrilled.  She's great with Addie and she's just a super sweet girl with an easy-going personality.  Our day is pretty wide open, other than going on the hunt to find a pool to join for the summer - which I'm very excited about seeing as though next weekend is Memorial Day weekend!!  I'm also hoping to drag everyone to Home Depot/Lowes to look at cabinets for the laundry room/pantry that the hubs and I had planned to complete this spring/summer.

Spending this Saturday morning at the gym - hopefully picking up some great tips to improve my workout regiment!  One of the FREE perks for joining the gym I joined is a FREE personal training session - so, I'm taking advantage of that - sincerely hoping its not a pseudo-sales pitch for more training sessions and that I will get some great workout tips:)  I'm planning to spend the rest of the day working on some of those May goals I posted about here and hanging out with my baby girl and maybe doing some more strawberry picking (THANK YOU for all of ya'll that gave me some strawberry ideas - I successfully used all of the strawberries I picked last weekend and now I want MORE to try some of the others).  Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday!!

PS I missed catching up on everyone else's going ons thanks to some crazy blogger malfunction on Thursday - I'm so happy everything is back up and running:)

Saturday Morning Scene

PhotobucketThis morning started off a little rough - I missed the alarm clock for my BodyPUMP class :( so I'll be spending some time this afternoon walking the neighborhood to try and make up for my miss.  The hubs and I decided to spend the time I would have been at the gym - at the strawberry fields picking some DELICIOUS strawberries.  There is a little farm not more than 10 minutes from our house and so we picked up my mom, who also LOVES to strawberry pick, and headed for the fields.  In 10 minutes we had both picked 6+ pounds of fresh strawberries.  It was such a beautiful morning with the sun shining and the weather in the 60s and we enjoyed our time, albeit pretty short, picking strawberries.  Addie even seemed to appreciate the change in scenery.  Now I have to figure out what to do with all of those berries - besides eat fresh and share with our neighbors.  Last year I attempted to make some jam but it came out a little thin.  Anyone have any good strawberry recipes??
Photobucket
how crazy looking is this one?!

We are also hoping to start some pretty major projects around the house here shortly so we'll be spending the rest of the day perusing home improvement stores and getting ready to take Addie to her first baseball game tonight with the fam (Go Tides:)).  Hope everyone else is having a wonderful Saturday and in case I don't make it back here tomorrow - for all you mommas - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Saturday Morning Scene

I'm linking up with Katie this Saturday morning to share my Saturday Morning Scene.  Head over and check out what everyone else is up to and share yours!!!
Started this Saturday morning off with an 8:15am BodyPUMP sess to work it out with some weights - this was my first time ever going to this class and whoa, talk about some muscle burn:)

We're now enjoying some down time at the usual morning spot - Starbucks:) for some iced coffee and chill time with the hubs and my little girl and the faves.

The hubs and I are also hoping to get some gardening done when we get home...and maybe even re-do our screen porch (that of course will be an ALL weekend project)!!
i seriously despise clover in my flower bed!

I hope everyone else is having a wonderful Saturday!!

Saturday Morning Scene

This morning I'm linking up with Katie over at "Loves of Life" to join in the the fun and share our Saturday Morning Scene.

I realized as I climbed out of bed that Easter is NEXT WEEKEND (I haven't even put my Easter wreath on my front door - what's wrong with me??)!!!  Yikes...I don't have a thing for Addie's easter basket...a few ideas...but nothing in hand.  Panic set in just a little bit...obviously candy is out of the question and thankfully I was way ahead of the game and ordered her Easter Basket from PBK in March, so I at least have that...and it's HUGE by the way (which means I need more to fill it;))  So, I've be perusing Amazon looking for everything I can to fill her basket and thought I'd share what I've found so far:
Plush Cordy Roys Duck
After about our first week of being at home with Addie, we noticed that everytime we put her in a particular fleece sleep n'play that just so happened to have ducks all over it...she would get ANGRY.  I know it was coincidence but started calling her the angry duckie...or duckie for short.  Even sometimes when she started crying in those early days she would make a duck sound.  So, that combined with my love for these JellyCat toys - the material and quality is awesome - made this decision an easy one.  Plus, ducks and Easter kind of go together so, I figured this makes a perfect item to put in her basket.
Melissa & Doug Fishbowl Fill and Spill
Not much of a story with this one - I just think this would be super adorable for her to play with and I love the sea creatures.  I've also gotten just a few Melissa & Doug things before and LOVED them and have always heard people say great things about their quality and affordability.
Boon foam bath toys
Boon is another one of my favorite maker of all things baby and after seeing a special on the new about the mold and mildew that grow in the rubber squirt toys, Addie has been taking her bath sans toys - poor girl - what a boring bath - MOM fail:(  So, I figure these foam pieces will give her something to play with and be easily cleaned so nothing slimy can grow.

Doing all of this course, with my main staple: coffeeeeee....next to me! I'd love to hear any great Easter basket ideas for a 6 month old or if anyone has any reviews of anything I have above (I honestly rely on those Amazon reviews so much when looking for things)  Have a great Saturday!!

The hubs is off to remediate this little message that has been appearing on the dash of our truck for several weeks now (ooppss!)
And...I am hoping to get this ever-growing pile of laundry done today (yes, thats pretty embarrassing that I've let it get that out of control).
I also have some work to do today but thanks to electrical work in our company building - I'll be able to work from home today:)

And..have I mentioned how thrilled I am that signs of spring are EVERYWHERE!!!
my camellia bush is in full bloom
and of course...my favorite thing about Saturdays is hanging out with this girl...

Saturday Morning Scene

I am linking up with Katie over at "Loves of Life" this morning to show you our Saturday Morning Scene!!

It has been rainy, cold, and dreary here since I got back (not to mention my drive back from SC on Wednesday).  BUT, this morning it is B-E-A-utiful and I could not be more thrilled about the prospects of a gorgeous Saturday!!  We are planning to join some good friends that we have not seen in forvever for a mid-day cookout and then watch the final 4 game (go VCU)  at BB&B..but first we are headed over there for a wonderful breakfast (yum!!)

spring has sprung :)

All of this rain really gave the grass we planted (from our flower bed conversion here) a boost and I'm loving the bright green shoots that are popping up all over the place!!

looks like my peonies are surviving

Also on the agenda for the weekend is the dreaded laundry, house cleaning, and 6 month birthday celebration for my little girl on Sunday (where has the time gone)!

Happy Saturday...happy weekend :)

can't wait to spend the weekend with this girl!

Saturday Morning Scene

So...I can clearly remember in my younger years taking note of the fact that it seemed as if whenever a friend, foe, or acquaintance had been married for a little while and then got her hair cut it meant she was pregnant.  I don't know why it always seemed that way to me but I made a promise to myself that I would not do that when I got pregnant.  And, well I held true to that promise to myself - I've always had long hair and always loved it.  Well, after having Addie, I took a good look in the mirror one day and realized my long lovely locks were now dipped in puke and usually the cause of pain in the morning as Addie would grab fistfuls of my hair and refuse to let go.  So...I did what I had said I wouldn't do and said good-bye to those long locks this morning.  So here are some before and after pics of my hair....tear, the long locks are gone.  I didn't go super short - my face isn't built for that and I learned that lesson a long time ago!  I hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday!!!

Spending this Saturday morning at Starbucks with our besties - Addie is enjoying pears for the first time so we snapped some pics with our friend's i-phone.  Addie has been up since 4am today so the caffeine is much needed:)  Enjoy!!
