Dear Santa, I need your help...

The hubs and I have gone back and forth on what to get Addie from Santa.  Last year, we did a few things and filled her stocking with goodies (no worries, the grandparents made up for what we lacked) but decided that setting additional money aside in her college fund was more important (boring, i know).  So, we put the bulk of her "santa gifts" in a college fund and still had trouble finding space for all of the other lovely gifts she received.  This year is slightly different...she doesn't get Santa but she I do feel like she understands "new toys" and she LOVES new things...preferably, shiny...loud...and big.  The hubs wouldn't let me buy her a Ferarri so she'll have to settle for this trike we decided to purchase instead:

She also tends to gravitate towards the Mega Bloks at Little Gym...so we decided she needed her own set for home:

I also scooped up some Melissa & Doug puzzles for her:

But, thats it.  Lame?!  I'm torn...should I buy more...looking at what we've got doesn't seem like much (sure, there will be clothes and books in addition to the above) but at her age I don't know what else she'd want.  Space is a major issue in our house and with a plan to put our house on the market next spring I'm trying to manage the extras.  So...I'm curious...what is everyone else doing??!!  I'd love to hear what you're giving...or what you're thinking in terms of Christmas gifts this year...

At this age they don't understand getting gifts anyway...I'm sure she'll get plenty from everybody else.

I only bought Hadley two things so far. I got her a rocking horse and a tunnel. One kid can only have so many toys and I'm sure her grandmas will stock her up good.

I think you have done fine! I have the same space restrictions. Nolan is getting a bean bag, a pop out tunnel (to hide in of course), and some smaller stuff. But I know he's getting tons of stuff from family. So girl you are totally fine! I think my mom is getting him some Melissa and Doug puzzles.

Plus they just got all those toys for their birthdays in October...which seems like yesterday!

I think she will love it!

We got Cohen a rocking "horse" that is a baseball as his big present from Santa. Then he is getting several Melissa and Doug wooden toys and blocks, as well as books galore. He loves to read and we would be buying them anyway, so Santa is bringing them to make it look like he has a lot under the tree! ;) Our families are going crazy with the gifts so I do not feel bad!

I agree with the others. A few select gifts will make your little girl happy!

My daughter got that bike for her
1st birthday and she LOVES it! It really is a great present, good idea.

We got our 14 month old some music instruments - a drum, keyboard and maracas because she loves to dance, puzzles from Melissa & Doug, tons of books and a few other things. Like you, she'll be getting tons of stuff from her Grandparents & aunts and uncles.

I got Ethan a shopping cart and some food and made him a bean bag. He's also getting some mega bloks from us as well. Honestly, the grandparents go so overboard that I'm really not too worried about it this year. I don't think they will mind at this point and I think you picked out some awesome gifts!

I think what you got is perfect! I love that trike!

So often this holiday becomes all about the gifts and more, more more! Jamie is going to get so much from everyone else that we got him 3 things. One bigger Santa gift and 2 smaller things. Honestly even that was probably too much, he has so much already!

We don't really have a big/Santa present for K. I feel like she has everything already. I'm sure I can wrap empty boxes and she'll be just as happy. The girl loves to open presents.

That trike is awesome! I saw it at a little girls birthday party this past weekend and it made it even cuter since it was pink. She is going to love it! We didnt get that much for C either. I know what you mean about not wanting to get then a lot because they really dont know the difference. I think what you got her is just perfect.

Oh Connor is getting spoiled this year! Mainly because we move into our new house TODAY and he has two of his own play areas PLUS a large, finished basement. He is getting an art table from us from IKEA, a nice wood play kitchen from my parents with food to accompany it, a plasma car, some DVDs, a play tunnel, puzzles, etc. Honestly, we only gave 5 toys to Connor last Christmas because of the generous Grandparents. I don't want to set a precedent of LOTS of gifts each Christmas from Santa, just because when you add more kids, that is more presents and a smaller bank account. I don't want it to get too out of control!

I think what you have is perfect, at this age they dont understand getting gifts. That tricycle looks awesome!

Hudson is getting the Rocking Elmo (he jams to it at the store!), a replacement toy (there was an old one of Wyatt's that Hudson loved and was broken by accident), and I think that's it. I already have enough clutter - as for the house on the market, we did that with 2 under 2 and it was actually relatively easy! The hardest part was needing to be out of the house for showings!

Love those! We are struggling with Christmas as well. In all honesty, there isnt ANYTHING that she needs- she has everything and we buy for her year round. However, I want her to have the fun Christmas memories that I have and share in the excitement of that special day for multiple reasons! So we bought her a wagon (more for us than her), some books and puzzles, some yo-gabba gabba dolls, and that's pretty much it. I think at this age, it's just as fun to get something small than big!

I think that at this age its so tough because they dont quite understand getting things from Santa and only play with the toys usually for a small time. Morgan is also getting blocks and puzzles. Another thing we are getting is a kitchen and a little easel for her to paint and do things on since she loves to color and paint.

I think those are great! Connor isn't getting much different...puzzles, books, some m&d shape sorter and stacker, pottery barn chair and some other little boy things like cars :) I did coloring books and crayons for his stocking. We are like you...no space!

I'm struggling with this too. Mia is only 2, where she is starting to get Christmas she is still more concerned with opening than what is actually inside. So, the hubs and I have decided to just get her some little things so she has a good amount to open. Being a November baby, she just celebrated her birthday and made quite the hall, plus with the grandparents, aunts and uncles I think she'll be just fine.
So far I've bought her a hat and a Scentsy buddy. I'll probably get her some more crayons, some coloring books and maybe a tool bench as the biggie (she loves tools).

Oh hun. I wish I had some advice for you. JD and I are both stumped on what to get your little princess - Trey just keeps saying she wants a "dog, dog, dog" *ahem* so he's no help.... I'm hoping some auntie Lis fabulous-ness comes to mind, and SOON!

I am going to do a post of what I'm getting for Trey - but it's nothing she doesn't already have and I don't think she wants a basketball hoop? (Or maybe she does - as long as their isn't a male coach - bahahahahah)

My suggestion is to NOT buy more. Christmas is so overwhelming for them at this age, that three presents is really the max before their tiny heads explode with over stimulation. I think your choices are perfect.

I'm with you on this! We just bought a few items, and don't tell, but I rewrapped some of her unopened presents from her birthday. Ugh. I'm bad I know. We will still have NO room to put everything after the Grandparents are done with us!! :)

Thatcher ain't getting much more. He's getting that exact trike (in boy colors), books, blocks and then a pull alligator toy. And "that's it" - but I keep reminding myself that that is oodles more than many, many children and that we have all we need. He is loved, he is healthy, and a few new things is plenty. I know it's hard not to feel guilty or get carried away, but having 2 parents, a roof over her head, guidance and faith puts her miles ahead of most children. Y'all are awesome parents and I think Santa has been very good to her!

At your kid's age, I think she's still pretty easy to please. I'm sure she'll love those :)

Have a merry Christmas!
