It's potty time...

We pulled the trigger on purchasing Addie's training potty and so far its been all good.  We are obviously taking things very slowly...I've heard from almost everyone I've ever talked to that pushing it only makes things worse...plus Addie is pretty young to be seriously potty training.  We've talked about it and she likes to sit fully clothed on hers while I'm on mine...all great steps in my opinion.  She also takes great joy in carrying it around the house....as you can see below:)

I'd love to hear from you guys on any tips you have or tricks that worked well in your house in the potty training department.

CUTE! Mine loved carrying her potty around everywhere, too! But I never got her to USE it, she didn't really take potty training seriously until I put her on an actual toilet. But maybe that was just her? I was so done with potty training by the time she got the hang of it, and now I need to start in with night training, yikes!

I am dreading this day! Just b/c I know it's going to be more work than changing a diaper. I at first was not going to purchase a little potty just an attachment to ours to make the seat smaller...but I think Nolan has a fear of toilets so I have a feeling we get the little potty.

So cute! Girl I've been wanting to start since the holidays, but really needed a weekend where we didn't have much planned and a lot of home time.

Well this past weekend, we went for it. I looked online for a chart to create some sort of reward system and found a Dora Potty Training Chart. It has worked wonders. We started Friday night and by yesterday she had it filled. 1 sticker for each - pee, pulling pants up/down, washing hands and then 2 stickers for a poo. Each time she fills a chart, we head to the store for a present.

Tonight we are getting her a bike, big purchase, but it's a major thing. She's so proud of herself and we are so proud of her!

Totally agree though, you'll know when they are ready and it's not something that can be forced. Our pedi said the same thing. We thought she was ready in the fall, but then she regressed. She's all over it now. I think we're finally there.

My goal was by 3, so yay!!!

Sad to say, but I'll miss her diaper butt :)

Good luck!

I'm currently working on just getting Hudson to TELL me when he ha something in his diaper!

Wyatt was MUCH harder to train than Reese, so I think girls might be easier. I started her right at 2 and she was done within a few weeks.

My only honest to goodness advice is to go straight from diapers to underwear. I don't think pull ups do a darned thing! With underwear they KNOW when they're wet and they can't stand it going down their legs, etc.!

Hadley always has to sit on her potty every time I go too. She even thinks she has to wipe. She always has pieces of tp in her potty.

Oh girl. No advice here! Brother is terrified of it all. I do think I'm going to try this summer and have a day of nakedness outside! Ha! I have a book called potty train in a day and it makes a lot of sense. Hopefully it'll happen soon because I saw the cutest pair of boxer briefs at Janie and jack the other day! Haha!!!

I'll be reading your tips because we tried potty training (with those same potty's) and it was a big fail. Good luck! I would love to be done with diapers!

Rock on with your potty training Momma! That's awesome. I have no idea how and when we will tackle this. I was hoping to avoid the little potty as well but he's scared of the big one. Wants nothing to do with it. I think we'll be waiting a while. GOOD LUCK! Keep us posted!

I have no advice because I think our girls are about the same age. A few weeks ago Alivia started telling me every time she had to go poop so we went and bought a potty. Well of course now she doesn't tell me :) That's ok though, we're working on her sitting on it right now and I'm sure she'll get the hang of it one day!

Good luck! Grayson has just now started telling me when he needs a new diaper...so we're getting closer. You'll have to do a post on how to be successful:)
